Cincinnati named Finalist to Host Sundance Film Festival

Cincinnati has been named a finalist to host the Sundance Film Festival. Thanks to local organizations like Film Cincinnati and other regional partners working to transform Cincinnati into the ‘Hollywood of the Midwest’. 

Film Cincinnati, a non-profit organization, is committed to attracting, promoting, and cultivating film, television, and commercial productions throughout Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky. 

For those unfamiliar with Cincinnati’s film industry, you might be surprised to learn that some of your favorite movies were filmed in the Queen City, including:

  1. Rain Man directed by Barry Levinson starring Dustin Hoffman, Tom Cruise, and Valeria Golino.

2. Traffic directed by Steven Soderbergh starring Michael Douglas, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Don Cheadle, and Dennis Quaid

3. Carol directed by Todd Haynes starring Cate Blanchett, Sarah Paulson, and Kyle Chandler

4. Dark Waters directed by Todd Haynes starring Mark Ruffalo, Anne Hathaway and Tim Robbins

5. The Killing of a Sacred Deer directed by Yorgos Lanthimos, starring Colin Farrell, Barry Keoghan, and Nicole Kidman

And the upcoming De Nero mob movie “Wise Guys” and Marvel’s “Spiderman: Legacy“.

“For over a generation, with consistent support from the city of Cincinnati, Film Cincinnati has positioned the Cincinnati region as a go-to community for movies,” said Cincinnati Mayor Aftab Pureval.

Cincinnati stands alongside five other cities named as finalists: Atlanta, Boulder, Louisville, Santa Fe, and New Mexico.
